The Maasai Mara is one of the most iconic safari destinations in the world. It is best known for the annual Great Wildebeest Migration, where over 1.5 million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles cross from Serengeti in search of greener pastures. The reserve is teeming with wildlife all year, including the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino). Visitors can enjoy thrilling game drives, hot air balloon safaris, and guided walking tours. The Maasai people, who live around the reserve, offer rich cultural experiences through village visits, traditional dances, and handicrafts.
Amboseli is famous for its large herds of elephants, often seen marching across the plains with Mount Kilimanjaro rising dramatically in the background. This makes it one of the most photographed parks in Africa. Apart from elephants, the park is home to lions, cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, and over 400 bird species. Visitors can explore through game drives, birdwatching, and cultural encounters with the Maasai community. The clear skies during the dry season (JuneโOctober) offer breathtaking views of Kilimanjaroโs snow-capped peak.
Together, Tsavo East and Tsavo West form one of the largest wildlife sanctuaries in the world.
Tsavo East is characterized by vast open spaces, dramatic landscapes, and large herds of red-dust elephants. Highlights include the Yatta Plateau โ the worldโs longest lava flow.
Tsavo West is greener, with volcanic hills, lava flows, and the famous Mzima Springs, home to hippos and crocodiles in crystal-clear waters. Visitors can spot lions, leopards, rhinos, giraffes, and more than 500 bird species.
